Krásná jizba [Beautiful Room], established in late 1927 as a branch of the Družstevní práce [Cooperative Work; dp] publishing house, was one of the leading Czech institutions in interior design and culture during the first half of the 20th century. It served as a platform for promoting Functionalist principles and advancing the quality of mass-produced utility objects. The institution's success and influence were driven by key figures of the contemporary cultural scene, including designers Ladislav Sutnar, Antonín Kybal, Ludvika Smrčková, and Bohumil Južnič, Ladislav Bartoníček and Jan Vaněk; photographer Josef Sudek; and many others. Through the production and sale of home accessories and furnishings that combined high aesthetic and functional value with affordability, Krásná jizba sought to uphold democratic principles in the culture of living.
