An elegant Functionalist table designed by František Langer and manufactured by SAB in Czechoslovakia during the 1930s. The design combines a rectangular black lacquered wooden top with a distinctive chrome-plated tubular steel construction, reflecting the progressive approach to furniture design in interwar Czechoslovakia.
The table is distinguished by its unusual supporting structure. Four slender tubular steel legs are connected by an intricate arrangement of bent and angled chrome-plated tubes beneath the tabletop. These carefully engineered elements provide structural stability while creating a visually light, architectural composition.
SAB was among the Czechoslovak manufacturers producing modern tubular steel furniture during the interwar period. The table reflects the influence of Bauhaus principles, particularly the use of industrial materials, geometric forms and functional construction.
The table has been carefully restored and is in very good vintage condition. The original chrome-plated steel frame has been polished without replating, preserving its authentic finish and minor traces of age.
The original wooden tabletop has been restored and refinished in black lacquer to match its original appearance.
An appealing piece for collectors of Bauhaus, Modernism and early tubular steel furniture, combining historical character with timeless geometric design.
