A distinctive pair of “Dymling” lounge armchairs, designed by Yngve Ekström for Swedese and manufactured in Sweden during the 1970s. Combining solid pine wood construction with generously upholstered cushions, the chairs represent the enduring appeal of Scandinavian modernism, where natural materials, functional design and traditional craftsmanship come together.
The design is characterized by its substantial architectural frame, constructed from solid pine with beautifully exposed wood grain and carefully shaped edges. The generously proportioned seat and gently inclined backrest provide a relaxed seating position. Soft, button-tufted cushions in a neutral grey-beige fabric create an understated contrast with the golden tones of the pine, balancing the robust wooden structure with comfort and visual softness.
Both armchairs are in very good vintage condition, with their original solid pine frames beautifully preserved. The wood displays a warm, naturally developed patina, with minor signs of age and use that contribute to the authentic character of the pieces.
The chairs have been recently reupholstered in a carefully selected fabric that closely resembles the original upholstery. Both the seat and backrest cushions have received new fillings, providing renewed comfort while maintaining the original proportions and appearance.
The frames remain structurally sound, and the original wooden construction has been preserved.
