Early Bauhaus Stools

An honest pair of early Bauhaus stools, designed by Mart Stam and manufactured by Mücke & Melder under Thonet license in the former Czechoslovakia, early 1930s. These stools embody the radical spirit of early modernism with their clean cantilever form—one of the key innovations of the Bauhaus period.

Each stool features a chromed tubular steel frame and a slightly curved seat in cream white lacquered plywood. The design eliminates all unnecessary structure, relying on geometry and material tension for strength and comfort. A prime example of Mart Stam’s rationalist vision, this model shares lineage with the iconic S 33 and S 34 chairs.

These are authentic vintage pieces, not reproductions. They remain in good original condition with visible traces of wear and age, especially on the chromed surfaces, which have been left unrestored to preserve the historical patina. Both stools are structurally sound and fully functional.

A collectible duo perfect for interiors that embrace modernist restraint or eclectic contrast.
