A bold expression of early 20th-century Czech design.
This rare and vibrant seating set by renowned Czech designer Jindřich Halabala exemplifies the pioneering spirit of Functionalism and avant-garde aesthetics of the 1930s. Produced by UP Závody, this original set includes two model H-128 tubular steel armchairs and a matching model H-13 round table.
The armchairs feature chrome-plated cantilevered tubular steel frames with curved armrests and backrests in lacquered wood. The circular side table rests on an elegantly cross-braced tubular base, giving the composition both visual lightness and architectural tension.
All wooden surfaces have been restored to reflect the original color scheme: the chairs in RAL 3016 (Coral Red) and the table in RAL 260 40 35 (Bauhaus Blue). The chrome elements remain in excellent original condition, displaying a deep shine and minimal wear—an impressive testament to UP Závody’s craftsmanship and Halabala’s visionary design.
A collector’s item and a museum-worthy ensemble that captures the radical modernity of interwar Czechoslovakia.
