Set of three early S 43 cantilever chairs designed by Mart Stam and manufactured in the 1930s by Vichr & Co. in former Czechoslovakia. These Bauhaus-era pieces embody the modernist principle of structure as form — combining industrial materials with radical simplicity.
The chairs feature black lacquered plywood seats and backrests paired with chrome-plated tubular steel frames in a classic cantilever construction. This early production version is identifiable by its unique detail: the rounded tube ends at the backrest, typical for Vichr production variant.
While the steel frames show light patina and signs of age, the wooden components remain in very good condition, likely refinished in the past with respect for their original character. Structurally sound and visually refined, this set represents an authentic slice of Bauhaus design history.
Price is for a set of three. A fourth (with slightly taller backrest as seen on the photos) chair is available separately. Full set of four possible upon request.
